MA in International Relations

As Hungary is a member of the European Union, there is a growing need for highly qualified specialists who have expertise in international relations, the affairs of the EU and its apparatus, are aware of the tasks resulting from the country's membership and capable of taking the opportunities it provides. Of course, this is all possible only if they speak

languages fluently, are generally well-educated in the social sciences, and have good communication and diplomatic skills.

The aim of the master's program and the professional competencies to be acquired

The MA program in International Relations aims to train highly qualified professionals with a wide-ranging education in the social sciences, who are capable of analyzing and interpreting Hungary's status and role in the EU and the world, and are aware of the theoretical and practical connections in the field of international relations. Graduates of the program have high-level language and negotiation skills. Their general and professional knowledge in history and the social sciences makes them capable of analytical and synthetic thinking. Their factual knowledge is their tool to understand and forecast economic, legal and political processes on an international level. They are able to identify the prospects of the CEE region within the challenges of international relations. The graduates of the program are informed about and understand the developmental tendencies of regions outside Europe, and have disciplinary education in civilization, world economics, international law, as well as practical skills in diplomacy, protocol and negotiation. Their education and qualification entitles them to proceed to the doctoral level.

Subjects taught in the program

Public administration, theories of world economy, geopolitics, international security and defence systems and institutions, conflict and crisis management in international politics, diplomacy and consular law, international legal case studies, analysis of global systems, Europe's regional economic geography, modern theories of international relations, casestudies of the Cold War, comparative history of civilization, cultural diplomacy, sports diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, economic relations of Hungary and the EU, regionalism and local governments.

Prospects in the labour market

Positions of organizational work, decisionmaking preparation, consulting and specialist work for European and other international organizations and committees, in foreign affairs and diplomacy, public administration and development policy agencies, foreign affairs journalism, EU project writing and management, lobbying, specialist work in international relations, international political analysis, sports diplomacy, company consulting, and EU offices.

Language requirements
